Ep 9: MEDIUM Why?
We finally meet Sarah’s bestie, Eliza Sears, whose brilliant boy Caleb is a big part of WHY there is the Medium Curious Podcast; and why we feel this work is so important. Eliza shares how a reading with Laura Lynne Jackson gave her the hope she needed to move forward after Caleb’s passing in 2015. Eliza describes the connection she feels with her son Caleb and the signs he sends to let her know he is still with her.
In the early days of her grief, she put a shout out to the universe to connect her with another mom who could understand her situation. Two little boys conspired together on the other side to make that connection happen! Eliza talks about the need to be open to signs and synchronicities from loved ones in spirit and the power of meditation and intention in connecting with them.
Takeaways
Books on mediumship and the afterlife can be a valuable resource for those seeking to understand and explore these topics.
The bond between loved ones transcends physical death, and signs from the other side can provide reassurance and a sense of continued connection. Be open to signs and synchronicities from loved ones in the afterlife.
Find support and connection with others who have experienced similar losses.
Memorable Quotes
“And from that moment on after her reading (with Laura Lynne Jackson), I just felt this light, this lifting, this lightness of being that I had not felt in weeks. It was about a month between his passing and when she did the reading.”-Eliza
“And he said, okay, well, if anything happens, promise me that you'll always be my Mom, I'll always be your son, and we'll always be together.”-Eliza

Ep 8: MEDIUM Walk
In this conversation, Sarah and Jane discuss what it means to be a medium on the move. Does it change how one acts or walks through the world? This topic invites chats about gratitude, synchronicities, and it all begins with an unexpected visit from Kevin. (The ex-boyfriend!) They break down the qualities and components of being a medium as written in the book ʻMedium in Manolosʻ by Lauren Robertson - chatting through each quality suggested and sorting how it works for each of them.
Also they chat about books that have influenced their spiritual journeys, and the importance of focus and joy and the profound power of attention. We even catch a glimpse of Sarahʻs spiritual awakening! The conversation concludes with a reflection on the beauty and value of being present in the moment.
Episode highlights:
Expressing gratitude and recognizing synchronicities can bring joy and encouragement.
Being a medium requires qualities such as desire, faith, resilience, commitment, selflessness, and communication skills.
Pay attention to the books that jump off the shelf at you! They can play a significant role in spiritual awakening and personal growth.
Awareness of energy, the ability to shift our perspectives, and deliberately choosing to look at what we want rather than what we do not, enriches our lives not only as mediums, but as human beings.
Memorable Quotes:
“Selflessness. To be a medium, you have to be selfless. You have to think of others before yourself and you have to be prepared to give of yourself generously for the benefit of others. Hmmmm.....” -Jane
“We're always looking to give better readings, always. Always looking for better evidence, always looking for better connections.”-Sarah
“Getting in touch with my intuition was for me, my spiritual awakening.”-Sarah

Ep 7: MEDIUM Open
In this episode, Jane and Sarah let Spirit take the lead and drive with what will be discussed. They open up to go with the flow - what first comes through is the topic of boundaries! Yay! Like, how do we set boundaries with spirits that want to come through when we’re not doing the work? How do we create a space that feels safe to us and our sitters but is also inviting to Spirit? And who of our own people get the open door policy?
Stay focused and be open (and clear) to receive messages from the spirit world. And staying open is totally worth it!
Episode Highlights
Setting boundaries is crucial in mediumship to ensure accurate and verifiable evidence.
Creating a sacred space and setting intentions can help establish a clear connection with spirits.
Leaving the door open for our own loved ones to come through can provide comfort and validation.
Managing emotions during readings is important to stay focused and provide a meaningful experience for the sitter.
Memorable Quotes
“When it’s time to talk to spirits, put your hand on the doorknob, open the door and it's sort of like, okay, game on, we're in business.” -Jane
“When I'm preparing for a reading, I kind of create a cozy space. Like I set a table and I put some tea on it and I have a door and I just say to the, you know, the spirits that will be coming through. I'm going to invite you in. Please share everything with me. Give me all the details. Give me the names. Give me the dates. Give me the memories. Give me all the visuals, but don't come in until I open the door. And when you come in, I've got this all set up for you.”-Sarah

Ep 6: MEDIUM Adventure
In this conversation, Sarah and Jane have the opportunity to sit with long time friend, actor and turns out psychic - Kim Rhodes - who you might know best from shows like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Supernatural.
Kim shares her perspective on whether she believes mediumship should be considered supernatural; and regales Jane and Sarah with hilarious and wild stories of her own mediumistic experiences and what she perceives is the main hardship is with doing this kind of work. She also drops truth bomb after truth bomb and in true Kim Rhodes style, quite a few f-bombs too.
NOTE TO LISTENERS: There are swear words in this episode, mostly a tame usage but there is a flurry at 26:30 if you want to skip, it mostly ends at 27:00 (although it’s so dang funny)
Tune in for an enlightening episode where we talk about everything from being a light wave down to what it means to be truly alive and present. Kim’s energy and wisdom shines through with her candid and passionate way of reminding us that to be alive is to love, and that sometimes Angels need to be told what's what.
Episode highlights:
Mediumship is a natural part of human existence, rather than something supernatural.
Pain and suffering can serve as opportunities for growth and learning.
Everyone has the capacity to be psychic
On what it means to be a light wave~!
Kim’s first experiences with communing with the dead
Kim’s real purpose - per the akashic records - is to be joy!
Sobriety and spiritual growth doesn’t excuse us from being humans who have all of the flavors of experience - including the ‘negative’ emotions
Memorable Quotes:
“I am convinced love exists and is running the show…” - Kim
“Our brain is our calendar, it gets us from Point A to Point B -- but living from the heart is where it is at.” - Sarah
“We are lucky to be on this earth” - Jane

In this conversation, Sarah and Jane discuss the terrifying possibility that a reading won’t be successful. What to do? How to recover? What tools can help in those moments?
Join the intrepid mediums as they journey through the scariest part; when spirit can’t be heard and there is a human expecting a reading. Is the mic on? Maybe not! They share a personal experience of a failure that turned into a win and emphasize the importance of being kind to oneself in the face of challenges.
In this episode, they discuss:
Uncle Bob’s reading and Jane’s insecurity about airing it

“All of those beautiful things start to come through once the connection gets strong. And that's the beauty and the magic of a good reading. But they don't always go like that, do they?”-Sarah
“ Spirit's on the job! And as long as I get the hell out of the way, we're going to get somewhere good..”- Jane

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room
Wednesday Feb 14, 2024
Wednesday Feb 14, 2024
Ep 2: MEDIUM When
No one wants to talk about death; it’s a deeply unpopular topic and one that most folks will go to great lengths to avoid. Of course, with mediumship avoiding it isn’t possible, and perhaps that’s part of the beauty of this practice. This week Jane and Sarah are here to address the elephant in the room — death and the afterlife - or as Jane likes to say ‘Death +’.
This episode covers this important topic and also answers some questions that early listeners had about the way we talk about the process of dying in mediumship. You’ll hear the stories of when Jane and Sarah were both confronted with this topic; including the time a mediumship reading by Laura Lynn Jackson helped verify really unusual and interesting things that Sarah’s middle child was talking about when he was three.
In this episode, they discuss:
The meaning of terms like the other side, crossed over, dead, etc., used by mediums
Clarification on whether spirit is singular or plural when mediums say they're talking to spirit
Live reading by Jane of Sarah's crossed-over Uncle Bob
Jane and Sarah's experiences and methods of connecting with spirit and what they sense
What Sarah means by "out of the corner" when she sees a spirit (referring to Episode 1)
The first time Jane and Sarah thought there was something beyond death
Examples of past life memories in children
Addressing the fear and discomfort that often surround discussions of death and the afterlife
Memorable Quotes:
"The body's dead, but the spirit lives on. So the other side implies that it's not over. The relationship continues." - Sarah
“I love the phrase ‘the other side’ because it makes me feel like it’s right here.” - Jane
"The amazing thing to me about mediumship is it proves that my intuition, that my extra sensory perception is right because I'm knowing and sensing things that I couldn't have otherwise known." - Sarah
